Takagi is pissed (or more like, frustrated) at Mashiro's relaxed reaction to all of this. Ririka gets a scolding but Azuki defends her. The anime studio guys at first think it's a bad idea for Azuki to play the role but one of the guys stands up and says "it's by audition though, if she passes then she gets in".

Reversi's anime is announced and more rumours spread and stuff on the net. Fukuda gets the gist of things from Yuujirou (even linking back to Aoki's one shot [Time of Green Leaves which was based off Azuki and Mashiro]), get's pissed and tells them all to tune into his Road Racer Giri Radio broadcast. Asks to give him 10, no 5 mins, to make an epic speech for his friend and it ends there.

Page 168: Correction and Declaration

Fukuda reveals that Ashirogi Muto's Mashiro is going out with popular seiyuu Azuki Miho. Pretty much spills his guts out to the audience.
Next day, Heishi gets an earful from Azuki's manager telling him to tell Fukuda to deny what he just said and also sets up for Azuki to deny all claims.
Fukuda gets an earful from Yuujirou but later stands on their side.
A touching scene between Azuki and Mashiro occur through sms. And a heart to heart moment with Azuki and her mother.
Later, when the time comes, despite being told otherwise, Azuki comes out and says she's in a relationship with Mashiro and loves him very much, dreams, wedding, etc.

Azuki's agent set up a radio show for Azuki to announce she isn't dating anyone
and this is what Azuki said....

Azuki: Good evening, I am Miho Azuki.
Do everyone has dream/goal?
To those who hold on to their dream and continue to pursue it,
To those who are looking for their dream, I want to cheer for them.
I am dating Ashirogi Muto's Moritaka Mashiro san.
I am deeply in love with Moritaka Mashiro san.
before I am a voice actor, before he is a manga artist.
In high school, we made a promise. That one day, his manga gets turn into an anime, I will be the voice for the main female character.
If this dream come true, we would get marry. This is the dream he and I have been pursuing.

Miho continues the broadcast.
Noise starts to spread, and more people tune in to the broadcast.
The responses seem to be positive, although still a few doubtful replies linger.
Miho's agent still suggests that there is time to change it by saying that she is kidding
but Miho says that even though it's not something her fans need to know, she can't lie to her important fans,
that's something she can't accept.

Some fan calls the radio station.
so the show producer asks Miho if she wants to take the call.
there is a short discussion about the risk of taking calls, but Miho says she will take the calls
and any call will be fine. She wants to answer to her fans.

The first call seemed to sound very supportive when the operator took the call, but when she/he's on air.
She/he says she/he feels very moved by her words, but it's Ridiculous!!
Miho is shocked but then replies, if she has offend her/him, and that she is very sorry, but she would like to continue to hear her fan's thoughts.
Miho is shaking, but still bravely carries on.

The next call asks whether it is true that the two have never seen each other. It is impossible.
Miho replies by announcing all the time they have ever really met each other:
at the wedding, at the hospital, less than 10 phone calls and so on.
The fan continues to ask if Miho is a virgin.
Miho is shocked, but answers yes
Mashiro is pissed off, and walks away from the radio broadcast.
the fan continues to ask, if they have ever kissed.
Miho's reply is no, but they had promised that they will next time, which is when they will have achieved their dreams.
The fan thinks it's wonderful, but Miho's fans are mostly guys, so announcing the relationship might decrease her fan numbers?

It all comes down to the last call...
It's... Mashiro!
Mashiro says that after hearing Miho's broadcast, he couldn't stay silent anymore.
Even though it's kind of lame for the guy to explain, but since Miho already did so much
he needs to do something as well.
Mashiro continues, first, Miho is telling the truth, she would never lie to her fans.

Miho is a voice actress, Mashiro hopes that everyone will believe in her voice.
Of all the performances she has done, she never disappointed anyone.
Mashiro strongly believes Miho can get the role with her talent.
Miho replies, Mashiro kun, I will definitely pass the voice test.
The broadcast is over.

The next day, the magazine that wrote about Mashiro and Miho before changes its tone to being very supportive of the two of them and the agent changes his tone as well in the last panel.

Chapter 172: Miho and Naho (the chapter title itself is a spoiler...)

Continuing from where we left off last week, Azuki stands before the microphone which lead to her dreams. She begins reading back the script and everybody's making nice comments so far, and even pointing out how she's going script-less.

Until she reads one line wrong. She said "black demon" instead of "white demon", in one line.

And this is when the other seiyuus grin, Ishizawa grins, and the netizens gasp. Once she finishes though, she leaves quite the lasting impression (note the double spread page) on everybody. And in the waiting corridor, Otsuki points out her performance was nice but she made an error when reading the dialogue, the studio won't gloss over that mistake. Before #9 takes her stand, the producer makes an interlude.

Apparently, #7 Azuki Miho in the place where it read "white demon" said "black demon" instead. But this is actually an error on their part. The script they had for the audition was based on the serialization manuscripts. In the manuscripts, it has "white demon" in it which is a printing error, which has been corrected in the tankobons (now reads "black demon"). And so she's not completely wrong, nor are the earlier seiyuus (#1-6, 8), and that the rest use "black demon" instead (out of respect to the mangakas).

At the end of the audition, which lasted 3 hours, the sound director thanks them all for their work. One seiyuu holds up Azuki's copy of the script she left on the chair and makes a fuss about it. Noting that the script doesn't have any notes in it or not even looking like it's been so much as opened, she makes an accusation that she knew the script by heart because she has connections with Ashirogi Muto. That's also why she knew the correct line was "black demon" instead of "white demon". But Goda-san stands up for her. And the sound director also stands up for her saying the script they've used for the audition, even Ashirogi Muto hasn't seen it so it's not possible. Sound director tells them all they'll be in contact with whoever won, which will be announced live at 3pm on 27th and on TV this time as well. On their way out, Azuki thanks Goda-san for what just happened.

The days leading up to 27th, we see people discussing who they think will take it, everybody's saying it'll be out of Azuki, Otsuki, Natara, and Goda, these four.

On the 27th, 3pm.

At the studio, everybody's a bit nervous and Kaya even goes so far is to say, the assistants will be here soon after, and then Hattori-san will be coming tonight to pick up teh manuscript, if it goes bad there's gonna be a gloomy atmosphere in the air. Takagi says she's thinking too much. At Azuki's place, her mom tells her Mina wants them to all watch it together in the lounge.

The live broadcast comes on.

There were 241,728 votes altogether.

Mashiro falls out of his chair from [silent] excitement (same as that time when anime was announced pretty much).


Kaya: "What's the matter, what's wrong, did he faint?!"
Takagi: "He's been nervous the entire day, so he's practically worned out now that he's relaxed"
Kaya: "No worries though right? Hey should we call an ambulance?"
Takagi: "It's okay..."

Mashiro: "It's great"."This is really great...".

Takagi: "Yep! This is great! This is really great now, Saiko!"

Mashiro: "Yup, Azuki's really amazing"
Takagi: "Yep, amazing, very amazing"
Kaya: "Uuwahhh~"

- Reversi officially ends @ 49 chapters.

- Reversi ended by black demon "sacrificing himself". They both die.

- Studio 92 doesn't mind the decision. Think fillers, guys.

Chapter 175: Release Day and Last Night.

Release day, or launch date, refers to the day Volume 5 and 6 of Reversi goes on sale.
Last night is referring to the night before the anime airs, and also the night before Mashiro will propose to Azuki.

The final volume of Reversi goes on sale with an initial 920,000 figure. Not enough to beat Eiji with his 1.2 million sales figure.
But later on, they finally catch up and surpass after a first and second reprint (first reprint with entire volumes too btw). Final figures are Reversi with 1.22 million and ZG with 1.2 million.

Shujin: "We. Did. It." Takagi is excited they finally surpassed Eiji and that his goal was accomplished (his present to Mashiro).

(BTW, when Mashiro asked to borrow money, seems like it was a house after all, according to one panel where Kaya talks about "house will be nearly finished around August")

Ashirogi Muto goes into Shueisha (Hattori called them up on page 2) to see Heishi, while there they see Eiji just before he leaves to go to Studio 92 to talk about anime works. Before he leaves, he tells Ashirogi Muto he's gonna make ZG sell 3 million copies. Which Ashirogi Muto responds they'll make their next work sell 3.5 million then.

Cue panels of various mangakas.

Iwase wants to work on a new series that will be better than +Natural. Looks like Kosugi is her editor or something now?
Fukuda and co. is on a "date" with a bunch of accountants.
Takahama smiles to himself like a dork.
Hiramaru wants a plate with their wedding photo on it. Aoki and Yoshida doesn't think it's a good idea...
Shizuka Ryu is acting like an idiot once again.

The night before the anime airs....

Mashiro thanks Kaya. For coming up with the name Ashirogi Muto.
Azuki tells her mom that Mashiro will be coming to see her tomorrow.
Mashiro in his room looks at his uncle's journal (I think it's that journal anyway).
